What’s in a name?

I was hanging out watching Scooby Doo in the Lounge here at Dogtopia of Alexandria's dog daycare, when I came to the realization that a lot of my doggie friends and I were named after some of our parents favorite characters.

For instance, I was named after Josie and the Pussycats, (according to mom, if you ask my Dad it was The Outlaw Josie Wales) a cartoon in the 80’s and a movie from 2001.

One of our pack leaders named her dog after a character in one of her favorite movies. “Adventures in Babysitting” was a popular movie when Sheena was growing up, and she liked the comic book hero that the main character idolized, Thor. So, when she got her little Toy Fox Terrier, she named it after him.

I also have many beagle friends who are named after everyone’s favorite Peanuts character, Snoopy. In fact, we had one visit us over the holidays, and he was every bit as lovable and fun as his namesake.

Finally, I made a new friend who is named after a very bouncy children’s book character. Tigger is just as jumpy and upbeat as the springy tiger of Winnie the Pooh fame.
