2008 Doggy Duathlon

I got back from New York City a few weeks ago, and boy are my paws still tired. I have been recovering from the first ever Doggy Duathlon that took place within the 8th Annual New York City Triathlon, Sunday, July 20.

I ran an amazing 10 kilometers alongside my dad. We were also suppose to swim together in the Hudson River as part of the race but there was construction going on near the river and the officials wanted to keep us canines out of harm’s way. The race officials made sure we had veterinarians on hand to monitor each doggy’s temperature and heart rate. We even took baths in a pool of ice because it was so hot outside. My dad and I placed fourth out of twenty well-trained and vivacious canines.

There were all kinds of dogs there, from Bulldogs to Weimaraners. The first doggy to cross the finish line was a Riley, a one year old Labrador from New Jersey. A Cocker Spaniel from Texas, Maalei, finished second, and chocolate Labrador named Deuce from D.C. finished third.
I have to thank all of my dog daycare pals who helped me get in shape by chasing kongs with me and my kennel and boarding buddies too.
